PROJECT # 1 - INDAWO YETHEMBA TRUST: BENN COX ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL FORT WHITE

After a almost 7 months of waiting working and looking for a project to to do it looks like one this is the one. We have Ray Paddle coming out from Australia to help us with the work.

I have just completed a estimate of the costs and the time that will be needed to complete the project and we have a lot more than three weeks work and also the work will cost a lot more than what has been given for the project. So to complete this project we will need two things:

The first is people who are willing to donate there time and experience to help complete the work which consist of replacing a roof, installing guttering, sanding floors and rewiring the building and then painting.

We will also look to sand and paint all the doors and window frames and restore all the furniture in the building. If time and finance permit we would also like to see a concrete lip thrown around the building to take moisture away and also a water tank to catch rain water .

The second thing that we will need is a little more finance to help complete the work and also help to pay local people to work as well as we would like to get the local people involved in the renovation of this building.

There is tremendous potential for this sight and the restoration of the chapel is just the first step. In the future it is hope that there will be a school on the property, a vocational training centre and also some form of aids clinic serving the local community.

One of the toughest jobs is the work that needs to be done on the ceiling if it is to be restores to it's original state. The idea is that it would be sanded and then varnished but doing this kind of work on a ceiling is not an easy job.If you read this article and would like to be involved then please leave a comment or send me and e-mail and I will get back to you
